A.6.B:6.4 — Dependency direction (no “upward” imports)

What this page is

This is generated FPF reference text from the specification preface or supporting sections. It helps interpret FPF; it is not FPF Reference product documentation.

Methodology

Use it to understand how the specification wants to be read, then return to a route, pattern, or work packet for active work. Cite generated IDs only when the wording changes the task decision.

Content

The square keeps laws and admissibility predicates independent of governance prose. An evidence or result claim may concern a prescription, duty, or grant, but its truth is settled by its own predicate and actual basis.

These are cross-quadrant restrictions. They do not prohibit same-quadrant references, such as L-* → L-* or E-* → E-*.

Normative rule (no upward dependencies).

  • L-* claims MUST NOT depend on or reference A-*, D-*, or E-* claims (except for purely informative notes explicitly marked informative).
  • A-* claims MUST NOT depend on or reference D-* claims. (A-* may reference L-* for defined terms or invariants.)
  • An E-* claim MAY reference a D-* claim as its evidence target or to identify the norm, duty, or grant used by its evaluation. The E-* result MUST still satisfy its own predicate and the actual-work, evaluation, or observation requirements of §5.4; the D-* claim alone establishes no result or compliance. (E-* may also reference A-* for conditioning and L-* for metric or term meanings.)
  • D-* claims MAY reference L-*, A-*, and E-* claims when needed, and SHOULD do so by ID or canonical location rather than restating content.

Rationale (informative). Laws (L) and admission predicates (A) retain their own meanings. Governance (D) states prescriptions, duties, and grants. Evidence and results (E) may report on those claims or evaluate conduct against them; a prescribed result is not inferred from the prescription.
